Construction update - August 2024

  • September is going to be a busy month as we will begin installing the scaffolding on the second block and start taking delivery of bathroom units. Work on the steel framing system will also commence in September.
  • Gate 2 on Furlong Road will be reinstated on the site to become a loading bay to receive deliveries.
  • We recently had our second CCS audit and were very pleased to receive an 'Excellent' rating.
  • Subject to weather conditions, a professional, licensed commercial drone operator company will continue to take monthly progress footage of the site over the next 12 months.

Construction update - May 2024

  • During the week commencing 20th May the main site entrance gates will be modified to accommodate a loading bay along Furlong Road.
  • At the beginning of July, the main site cabins are due to be installed. A traffic management plan will be in place to minimise disruption, and we will confirm dates and full details to you nearer the time.
  • A professional, licensed commercial drone operator company will also continue to take progress footage of the site twice a month, over the next 12 months - subject to weather conditions. The operator is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and images are pixelated to obscure Ascot House.

Construction update - April 2024

  • Work is progressing well, the onsite substation has been completed and is now ready to be energised, and works to the basement are progressing on schedule.
  • A second crane will be delivered on 18th of April at 07:00am in accordance with the Metropolitan Police’s requirements. Traffic management will also be in place to minimise potential disruption.
  • On 21st May, and with the same arrangements in place to minimise disruption, the main site cabins will be delivered with a three day installation period.

Construction update - January 2024

  • With the high-level piling works now complete, the piling and reduced level dig for the basement is now underway, which will take around 10 weeks.
  • In preparation for the next phase of the project, we will be ready to take delivery of our site welfare units on the 9th February, which will house our project office and provide canteen and other facilities for our onsite personnel.
  • We will then be ready to receive the first of our two tower cranes required for the main construction phase of the project. The crane will be delivered and erected on 12th and 13th February and will arrive at Furlong Road at 07.00am in accordance with the Metropolitan Police's requirements.

Construction update - December 2023

  • A second piling rig is required to carry out the basement works and this will be delivered to site on Wednesday 3rd January 2024.
  • In compliance with Police restrictions relating to the movement of heavy and large vehicles, the rig must be delivered to Renshaw's Yard prior to 07.00am, and the driver will be instructed to park on Furlong Road near the site hoarding, with the engine off.
  • At 08.00am in accordance with permitted working hours, the rig will then be moved onto site. It will take 1 - 2 days to set up and will be on site for approximately 12 weeks.

Construction update - December 2023

  • Since completing the demolition phase of the project, we have stabilised the ground to allow us to start work on the basement walls, which involves the piling rig we told you about in the previous newsletter, to drive the pile foundations into the ground.
  • Work on the 'reduced level dig' is now underway to enable the start of works to the below-ground car park.
  • Archaeologists from RPS Heritage are supervising whilst we dig, and so far a number of interesting artifacts have been uncovered including flint tools, Roman pottery and a Roman horse burial. All of the items have been recorded and removed for analysis and carbon dating.

Construction update - October 2023

  • Demolition is now complete and over the next week, we will begin crushing and removing materials from the site before starting work to create the piling mat.
  • This is the working platform required for the piling rig and other heavy plant and machinery which will be required as we start work on the foundations.
  • Due to its size, the piling rig can only be transported during specific hours and is scheduled to arrive at Furling Road at 07.00am on Wednesday 18th October in accordance with the regulations.
